Steven Andrew Erickson – A Beautiful, Wonderful Man

Steven Andrew Erickson

Steven Andrew Erickson, 77, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, at his home in Pittsboro, North Carolina. Born on June 15, 1948, in Lexington, North Carolina, Steve lived a life defined by curiosity, vitality, and meaningful connection.

A graduate of Lexington Senior High School’s Class of 1966, Steve earned his undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1970, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He later earned a Master’s in Special Education from North Carolina State University, reflecting his lifelong commitment to understanding and supporting the human spirit.

Steve was a true free spirit who embraced life with unbridled enthusiasm. Whether traveling the country in his beloved “little guy” camper or competing on the tennis and pickleball courts, he brought joy and intensity to every endeavor. As a champion in the North Carolina Senior Games, he exemplified the rare combination of competitive excellence and genuine sportsmanship.

While his booming laugh was unmistakable, it was Steve’s generous heart and steadfast loyalty that left the deepest impression. He was a devoted friend and a cornerstone of the intentional community at Blue Heron Farm, which he co-founded in the late 1990s.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Good; his sisters Vicki Erickson Olson (Wayne) and Pamela Jane Erickson Shaw; his son Andrew Erickson (Stacy); daughter Sarah Erickson (Colin); stepsons Adam Good (Kat), Rusty Good (Ethanie), and Patrick Good (Rosi); and nine grandchildren who were his greatest source of pride. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Andrew Erickson and Jennie Elizabeth Cecil Erickson.

A Celebration of Life Service, followed by a Pie Party, will be held on January 10, 2026, at Blue Heron Farm. The service will begin at 2:30 pm. In honor of Steve’s vibrant spirit and his love for connection through play, the family invites you to celebrate his memory by playing a game of pickleball with someone you love.
